Colleen Shanahan Wehrli, M.A. CCC-SLP
Colleen earned her undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During her undergraduate studies, Colleen authored a thesis on childhood speech disorders, which she later presented at the annual nationwide conference for the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) in 2010. After graduating from the University of Illinois, Colleen attended Northern Illinois University, where she participated in additional research projects in the areas of oral motor and swallowing disorders. Colleen presented research results at the annual Illinois Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ISHA) conference in 2012. She also participated in a large research study targeting language intervention of elementary and middle school aged students. Prior to opening Naperville Pediatric Therapy in 2015, Colleen worked at a pediatric private practice in Chicago, where she evaluated and treated hundreds of children aged 6 months-18 years over a period of 3 years. Over that time period, she worked with many populations and gained extensive experience in treating early language, speech sound, fluency, pragmatic language, feeding, swallowing, and oral motor disorders. To provide the best outcome, Colleen is passionate about integrating the entire family into the treatment of the child seeking therapy services.
Colleen is ASHA certified, fully licensed to practice in the state of Illinois, and thrilled to open Naperville Pediatric Therapy in her hometown.

Sarah’s clinical passions include autism, pragmatic language, and fluency services. Her therapy is designed to help her clients participate in meaningful and functional communication in their daily lives through real-world goals and objectives. Sarah spends her free time volunteering with dogs at a local animal shelter. She hopes to one day combine her passions by raising a therapy dog as her partner in providing animal assisted speech therapy services.
Sarah is an ASHA certified clinician and holds a Clinical Certificate of Competency as well as an Illinois Professional License (CCC-SLP/L).
“Colleen is so friendly and upbeat, and our 10 yr old daughter really loved interacting with her. Our daughter’s clinical progress was immediately noticeable, and it rapidly improved with each session. I attribute much of this to Colleen’s therapy style and her ability to identify the best technique for the child.”
“Colleen also worked with us to guide us on how we could reinforce what he was learning with her. She is an exceptional speech therapist.”
“She had such a warm, sincere and fun approach with my daughter and for the first time, my daughter was excited about speech therapy and talked about Colleen all the time – this never happened with her other therapists! Colleen made speech therapy so fun for my daughter and even integrated her older sister into our weekly visits.”
“In short, Colleen was a wonderful partner in helping our son speak well. When our time was finished we were sad to see her go, but are happy to recommend her to anyone else.”
